Allah’s saying is: And the food of the people of book for you and your food for them is permissible. (Al-Ma’aida:5:5)
A tradition from Syedna Anas RA is that a Christian woman did banquet of Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) and presented toasted goat but poison was added in it. Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) ate it but hadn’t swallowed that the news of it being poisoned received (via inspiration). A companion Bashar bin Barra RA had swallowed the bite, due to which his shahadat occurred. (Al-Bukhari 2617’ Abu-Dawood 4512)
A statement of Syedna Ibn e Umar RA is that Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) was at the pace of Tabook when chese was brought. He asked to bring knife and read Bismillah and cut; then ate it.
(Abu-Dawood 3819) In that era, chese was made in Sham and non-Muslims lived there. (Neel Alaotar 26:1)
